Chelsea State of Mind

King's Road SW3
by Jack Sutherland Williams

Yeah. Yeah. I'm up at Jigsaw, buying a pashmina. Then I'll be down at Cath Kidston, buying something for my mum. Perhaps a tote bag with a vintage-inspired print, or failing that a gift voucher. Uh huh. Uh huh. Not my sort of thing, actually. I'm a bit like Edie Segwick, or whoever it was Sienna played in the movie. Anyway, welcome to the barrio. Meet me at the Conran restaurant, if you like: we'll have cocktails. Take a trip to Parsons Green, meet my girlfriend Piggy. We called her that at boarding school because of the bulimia. Come around this weekend. You'll see me at the Pony with the rugger boys, or the Royal Court with my dad. Uh huh. Uh huh. Don't see him much now the olds are divorced, actually - he's with JP Morgan in Hong Kong. Look over there, it's my mate Marcus. Yoo hoo, Marcus! Knew him at university - works for Sotheby's. Used to supply me with beaker, but I'm better now. Putting on weight, though. Christ, look at these thighs! I'm such a trougher. Exercise? Played netball at school, but other girls are such bitches. Now I go to the Harbour Club. Big love and high fives to all the boxercise gang. Hard to fit it in, though. Mate and I are starting a fashion business. Totally exhausting. But the King's Road's lovely. Makes you feel brand new. And all the shops inspire you. Uh huh. Uh huh. Let's hear it for Chelsea.
